What did you do before working at Star Pharmacy Group?

I have worked in a few different occupations prior to starting my pharmacy career – I have worked as an aged care nurse, school camp assistant, a waitress and a steward in the Australian Army – all of which have given me valuable life experience and helped to shape me into the person I am today. During university, I also worked at two pharmacies in Townsville to boost my hands-on experience before entering the real pharmacy world.

Where are you going to Uni? When do you graduate?

I went to James Cook University in Townsville and graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2015.

Why did you choose Star Pharmacy Group?

I chose to do my internship with Star Pharmacy Group as everyone I met was so friendly and welcoming; even between the different stores, there is a real ‘team’ spirit.

What is your favourite part about working at Star Pharmacy Group?

I love my work environment with Star Pharmacy Group – I get to work with a really great group of people, where we can all work with independence, and yet all support one another. I feel like my efforts are appreciated and that I can make a real difference to our customers’ lives. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with Star Pharmacy Group.

Where do you see your career headed in the future? 2 years or 5 years?

I was very lucky to secure a Defence Scholarship during my degree, so for the next three years after my internship I will be returning my service to the Australian Army as a Pharmaceutical Officer. After that I am hoping to move rural, perhaps central NSW, and become a Pharmacy Manager with the long term goal of going into ownership.

What did you do before working at Star Pharmacy Group?

Before working with star I was a casual pharmacy assistant in Townsville which allowed me to develop my skills while studying at University. I urge students to partake in casual pharmacy position as you develop confidence in both OTC medications and customer service.

Where are you going to Uni? When do you graduate?

I did my studies with James Cook University in Townsville and finish my degree in 2015

Why did you choose Star Pharmacy Group?

When choosing a pharmacy to do my internship in I had two requirements. Firstly, the team itself is very important, working full time you want a team in which you fit in and can have a joke with while accomplishing daily tasks. There is no point working somewhere if you don’t enjoy the people you work with. Secondly, where can I learn the most within the time frame of a year. I have a goal to get into business and I know star pharmacy allows you to become very confident within this area as you take on a huge role. Star pharmacy fit both of these requirements and therefore is the reason why I chose this group.

What is your favourite part about working at Star Pharmacy Group?

As stated above on the reason why I chose the group is the exact reason why I enjoy working with star pharmacy. Most days it is very full on but the support that is provided and the amount I am learning is phenomenal. It also provides the added bonus of being a busy pharmacy positioned very well which allows myself to be exposed to many different customers and the days just fly by.

Where do you see your career headed in the future? 2 years or 5 years?

My goal is to get into business and with this goal I see my future to run my own business. I believe star pharmacy gives me a firm standing point with this goal and I will work hard this year to achieve the skills and knowledge to run my own pharmacy.
