Star Pharmacy Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Piliouras as Chief Executive Officer of its 60-store national pharmacy business. The Star Pharmacy Group incorporates Star Discount Chemist, the group’s own national brand, as well as a number of Priceline Pharmacies and independent stores.

Mr Piliouras brings to Star Pharmacy Group over 16 years’ senior executive experience at Peregrine Corporation; most recently eight years in the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Commercial Officer. Peter has over 25 years’ experience in convenience retail leadership roles and is well equipped to lead Star Pharmacy Group through its rapid growth trajectory. “I have greatly enjoyed 25 years at Peregrine Corporation, where I have been part of growing a small family business into one of Australia’s largest retailers. Star Pharmacy Group is a South Australian success story with great values and a strong customer offer that will support continuous growth and expansion. I am looking forward to being part of Star Pharmacy Group’s next growth phase and working closely with the passionate and capable teams to deliver fantastic outcomes for our customers,” said Mr Piliouras.

At Peregrine Corporation Mr Piliouras oversaw the management of 250 stores and over 3,000 employees.

Peter holds degrees in Law and Commerce from the University of Adelaide and is also a graduate of Harvard Business School’s High Potentials Leadership Program. “Peter will join us with fresh energy and a wealth of experience to build on the strong foundations laid by our outgoing CEO, David Clark. His leadership is welcomed by our team of passionate pharmacy and retail professionals, and our experienced and capable Executive group. We know Peter is as enthusiastic as we are to deliver a true community pharmacy experience that inspires everyone to be happier and healthier every day,” said Founders Stan Kontos and Peter Gardiakos. The group’s current Chief Executive Officer, David Clark, will be retiring from full-time work with Mr Piliouras set to join the Star Pharmacy Group on Monday, November 21. David will work closely with Peter to ensure there is a smooth transition into the role.
